The Challenge
This large ash tree stood in an exposed rural setting close to buildings, access routes, and open farmland. Due to its size and condition, the tree needed to be dismantled methodically and safely.
Key challenges included:
- Large diameter stem and heavy timber sections
- Proximity to nearby structures and access tracks
- Safe lowering and removal of large limbs
- Ground protection during machinery use
- Full stump removal and site reinstatement
Our Approach
Using a combination of climbing, specialist rigging equipment, a MEWP, and compact machinery, we carried out the work in carefully controlled stages.
Our work included:
- Sectional dismantling of the ash tree canopy
- Controlled lowering of major limbs and timber sections
- Processing large stem sections on site
- Removal of timber and brash using mechanical handling equipment
- Stump grinding and final ground clearance
Every stage was planned to maximise safety, efficiency, and minimal disruption.
The Result
The ash tree was safely removed, the stump eliminated, and the area fully cleared for future use. The client now has a safer site, improved access, and peace of mind knowing the risk posed by the tree has been removed.
This project highlights our ability to manage large-scale tree removals in both residential and rural environments.
Why Remove a Large Ash Tree?
Tree removal may be necessary when a tree has:
- Structural defects or decay
- Storm damage or instability
- Outgrown its location
- Become hazardous near buildings or roads
- Suffered decline associated with ash dieback
Where retention is no longer practical or safe, professional removal is often the best long-term solution.
